Parent Ambassadors Program

A great way for parents/guardians to be involved at one of our South Gwinnett Cluster Schools.

We are recruiting parent ambassadors to serve on our Parent Council for the current school year for each of our cluster schools.

What is the Parent Ambassador?

Parents and guardians have an opportunity to serve as an ambassador and support Parents, Teachers, Students and Staff for the upcoming school year.

This is an opportunity to

  • Offer support
  • Share experiences and expertise
  • Help improve processes and best practices
  • Promote excellence throughout the school and community

Why should you get involved with the Parent Ambassador Program?

As an Ambassador, you will increasingly become knowledgeable about schools within the cluster and be equipped with resources that will assist you and others – and more importantly– your student.

Involvement with clubs, organizations and groups helps strengthens our community. Involvement for our kids is one of the best success predictors for post-secondary educational aspirations and career placement opportunities.

What is the responsibility of a Parent Ambassador?

Through this program, parents/guardians serve as official ambassadors for clubs, organizations, councils, programs and events sponsored by the PTA/PTSA and SG Cluster Schools.

Parent Ambassadors will help with outreach to families and students, form relationships, help each other create and sustain ties to the school by encouraging participation in clubs, auxiliaries, special programs and events. This helps ensure everyone becomes vested in their student’s school experience.

Parent Ambassadors will help promote our mantra “The Great Things Are Happening at SGHS”

As a Parent Ambassador, you will:

  • Welcome newly recruited members to the program
  • Assist with supporting events
  • Serve as an informed agent of the school
  • Engage with prospective and current parents/families, teachers, students and staff
  • Assist in identifying, recruiting, or sustaining ambassador membership
  • Assist in building and promoting positive messages and highlighting “The Great Things Happening at SGHS” both locally and regionally

What is the level of commitment to be involved in the Parent Ambassador Program?

A minimum of a one-year commitment as Parent Ambassadors include some meetings, training, and volunteering for events. After some time as Parent Ambassadors, you may be invited to serve on the Executive Board of the SGHS PTSA, School Council, Advisory Board or Foundation.

How do I sign up?

We accept interest forms on a rolling basis. Once your form is received, you will be contacted by a current PA inviting you to the next scheduled orientation.

See online calendar for orientations, volunteer opportunities and timeline.
